Anti Joke

A visibly exhausted and distressed man walks into a bar and orders a strong drink.

"Long day?" the bartender asks.

"No, all days are 24 hours long" the man replies, amazed at how uneducated the bartender is.

  • Actually, each day is about 23 hours and 56 minutes. Every day, the day gets 0.000000006 of a second longer.

  • Even during daylight saving changes a day is still 24 hours. The earth doesn't take longer to rotate in some time zones than in others.

  • I'd like to further explore the comment about celestial objects having different lengths of a day. A day on Mar is equivalent to 24 hours 39 minutes on Earth. Perhaps the bartender was not necessarily questioning the man's understanding of how many hours are in a "Earth" day. But rather, was more curious in if the man was from another planet but still measuring time on that planet relative to Earth. Of course, if this is the case, an argument still could be made on the bartenders intelligence or level of education; since a more straight forward query would be something like: "Are you from another planet where one revolution of that planet on it's axis is greater than the time of one revolution of the planet Earth?" However, the bartender might have felt that such a direct question would be confrontational (especially if the "man" was an alien invader). The joke is lacking in context that would conclusively determine the motivations behind the bartenders question
