Anti Joke

A visibly exhausted and distressed man walks into a bar and orders a strong drink.

"Long day?" the bartender asks.

"No, all days are 24 hours long" the man replies, amazed at how uneducated the bartender is.

  • In addition, the individual who is not the bartender infers that the bartender is uneducated based on a single statement, which could be argued either semantically correct or incorrect. A lawyer, for example, may not have a full grasp of astrophysics, but have many years of education in the field of their particular area of law. By not ending the anti-joke at the point where the mention of the day being a uniform period, the author indicates they do not understand how to properly phrase an anti-joke.

  • I think this was a funnier anti-joke after the intro line. It should just be "a visibly exhausted and distressed man walks into a bar and orders a strong drink. He drinks until his distress is no longer evident and stumbles out the door home. "See you tomorrow, Jeff" says the bartender."

  • why do people use the term 'an anti-joke' when a non-sequiteur is an apt description?

  • A day is the period of time that a celestial body rotates once. The moon, Mars, Jupiter, and Venus all have different day periods than 24 hours. The bartender is not necessarily stupid, and this addition to the anti-joke does infer that the person who is not the bartender isn't smart, just autistic.
