To the person say a tiger an a lion are of the same species, YOU are the dumb ass. A tiger and a lion are of the same genus, NOT the same species... You may be confused, because they are the parents of "ligers". They are, indeed, alike enough to mate if forced, but their offspring are sterile. Go take a biology class ?
